Minecraft Ps4 Remote Play

This page describes an edition of the game that has been officially discontinued.

This edition is no longer updated or available for digital purchase, but can still be purchased physically.
  • Usually when remote playing, the player can tap on the bottom left of the PSVita's touch screen to replace L3 (clicking on the left analog stick on PS4), which, with default controls, would seem to be a temporary work around to the issue since that would allow.
  • I was trying to play with friends in Minecraft (PS4) for many weeks but always I read the msg 'unable to connect to the world', I read a lot of 'hacks' to fix this issue but nothing works so far. Finally, I found that many post are discussing the way to change NAT type to allow me to play with friends.

On PS4, do not use Remote Play. (Account Error -9' reportedly occurs when using Remote Play on PS4.) Sign out of your Microsoft/XBoxLive account on every device other than the one you are using to.

Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition is the Legacy Console Edition edition of Minecraft developed by 4J Studios and Mojang Studios for the PlayStation 4.[8] It was announced on August 20, 2013 at Sony Interactive Entertainment's exhibit at Gamescom 2013 and was available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for $19.99 between September 4, 2014 and December 9, 2019.[9] Existing digital owners are still able to access, re-download, and play this version. A retail version was released on October 3, 2014 and can still be purchased. DLC for the game is still available on the PlayStation Store. Like Xbox One Edition and Nintendo Switch Edition players, PlayStation 4 Edition owners have the option to download the Bedrock version for free, however not all DLC will transfer. As with many games that are released on the PlayStation 4, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition can be played on the PlayStation Vita through Remote Play.

Compared to PlayStation 3 Edition, PlayStation 4 Edition includes world sizes up to 5120×5120 blocks (36 times larger), 18 chunkrender distance, amplified worlds, and other enhancements offered by the PlayStation 4. PlayStation 4 Edition has all Legacy Console Edition exclusive features, the most notable being Mini games.

As of 1.95, PlayStation 4 Edition has not received new feature updates, including Buzzy Bees and the Nether Update other editions of Minecraft received. PlayStation 4 Edition is playable on PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility.

PlayStation 4 Edition's most recent feature update is Village & Pillage.

Controls[edit]

Main article: Controls § Legacy Console Edition

In default settings, the controls are always displayed on the HUD. The controls for PlayStation 4 Edition are similar to PlayStation 3 Edition and alongside touchpad support.

Gameplay[edit]

The game is similar to PlayStation 3 Edition, but supports the enhancements offered by the PlayStation 4. Players were able to transfer and expand upon worlds created on PlayStation 3 Edition and PlayStation Vita Edition, however this feature was terminated in April 15, 2020.

The PlayStation Vita has a feature, called remote play, that allows players to connect their PSVita to their PS4 and play games streamed from their PS4. Since the PSVita has less buttons that a PS4 controller the directional pad is used to do many things (WITH DEFAULT CONTROLS: Down: sneak/crouch, Up: Toggle 3rd and 1st person camera, Left/Right: move hotbar selector). However, since the recent 1.42 patch for Minecraft PS4 edition the D-pad on the PSVita does nothing when any of its buttons are pressed while remote playing. Usually when remote playing, the player can tap on the bottom left of the PSVita's touch screen to replace L3 (clicking on the left analog stick on PS4), which, with default controls, would seem to be a temporary work around to the issue since that would allow players to toggle the third and first person camera angles. But after testing this I realized that the game does not seem to detect the bottom left screen touch either. This goes for the bottom right screen touch as well (which replaces R3, clicking in the right analog stick on a PS4 controller). This means that when remote playing Minecraft PS4 edition on a PSVita system it is impossible for a player to toggle crouch, change their camera view, or cycle the item selected in their hotbar. If a player wanted to use a different item than the one selected on their hotbar, they would have to open their inventory and move the item to the slot of the hotbar which is in the selected state. To clarify, this is a bug on Minecraft PS4 edition that happens when using the remote play feature on the PSVita to stream PS4 games. To my knowledge, this glitch has no effect on Minecraft PSVita edition. I noticed this bug when I originally booted up the game while remote playing directly after the update. I was playing the new Fallout battle mingame maps when I noticed I couldn't use my D-pad controls. I have not yet tested, but I do suspect that this bug still occurs in survival/creative as well as it does in minigames.
